Course programme
This bundle includes the following courses.
Dementia – An Understanding
This is a course about dementia looking at a broad range of topics. Dementia is a term used to describe various different brain disorders that have in common a loss of brain function that is usually progressive and eventually severe.
Dementia – Clinical Guidelines
This guideline makes specific recommendations on Alzheimer's disease, dementia with Lewy bodies (DLB), frontotemporal dementia, vascular dementia and mixed dementias, as well as recommendations that apply to all types of dementia.
Dementia – Dealing with Challenging Behaviour
People with dementia may sometimes behave in a challenging way, for example aggression or shouting out. This can be very distressing. By understanding what may cause this type of behaviour and learning how to deal with it, you make sure it happens less often and that you feel able to manage when it does.
Dementia – Interventions for Cognitive and Non-Cognitive
Non - cognitive symptoms in dementia are often described as the Behavioural and Psychological Symptoms of Dementia (BPSD) or behaviours that challenge, because of the difficulties they can cause.
Dementia – Types of Dementia
Dementia is a term that is used to describe a collection of symptoms including memory loss, problems with reasoning, perception and communication skills. It also leads to a reduction in a person's abilities and skills in carrying out routine activities such as washing, dressing and cooking.
