2. Course description The course combines practical studio work in your specialist design area of fashion with contextual and theoretical modules.  You 'll study in spacious, bright, open-plan studios at the top of the impressive Adams Building, a Victorian lace warehouse in the heart of Nottingham 's Lace Market. You 'll be using large design and cutting tables and industry-standard machines.  In the first semester you 'll be working in groups and being taught in the studios and workshops. In semester two the emphasis will shift to individual tutorials in individual spaces.  The course promotes an enquiring, creative and challenging approach towards your work. It encourages the belief that designers have independent thoughts, feelings, reactions and attitudes which they need to externalise and visualise within theoretical work and practical design practice.  The core modules you 'll study on the course include: • research and academic skills • specialist studio practice • contemporary issues in design  The modules specific to your chosen pathway include: • practice-led research • advanced studio practice  If you 're looking to top up your Level 5 qualification to a full degree and have the freedom to explore your creativity in great facilities with plenty of one-to-one support, this course is for you.
