Course programme
Teaching is in small classes, with an emphasis on interactive problem solving and case studies.
Each day will cover the following topics:
Day 1- The principles and benefits of DoE approaches, compared to one-factor-at-a-time (OFAT) investigations
- Experimental design techniques and interactive demonstration of DoE software packages (Design Expert 8 and ProSim)
- Case studies: analytical method validation (conventional vs DoE approach)
- Industrial analytical method validation using DoE
- Screening and optimisation of microbial fermentations
- Case study: fermentation process screening
- Case study: fermentation process optimisation and scaleup
- Protein refolding, stabilisation and formulation: structural and environmental parameters that impact on maintenance and stabilisation of protein structure and activity
- Case study: primary product recovery by microfiltration
- The application of factorial design in high throughput scale-down bioprocess development: examples in fermentation and cell culture
- Experimental planning and DoE for chromatography
- Discussion forum
A social networking event will be held for delegates and speakers.
