You will experiment with a range of watercolour painting techniques and methods that help to broaden your brush skills. You will explore using animals, buildings and seascape as subject matter. You will be encouraged to work from your own imagery. You will undertake research to aid the production of your art creating a portfolio charting the progress of your artwork with accompanying reflective written work. Your final piece of work will be reflective of the methods and ideas explored on the course.

About this course
This course is suitable for learners looking to expand their understanding of watercolour painting methods. During the course, students will experiment with different techniques in order to develop a more personal style of painting with watercolour.
Some experience of watercolour painting would be beneficial but is not a requirement of the course. You should also be dexterous (able to hold and use equipment)

Course programme
How will I learn?
Through group discussion, demonstration and one-to-one tutoring you will discuss art and undertake exercises. You will create a portfolio of art experiments and a finished artwork with accompanying reflective written notes.
How will my progress be monitored and assessed?
Your portfolio of work will be shown to your tutor who will advise you on progress and provide verbal and written feedback.

You can progress onto other arts courses in a choice of subjects. Your tutor will be able to advise
What equipment or materials will I need to provide?
Learners will be expected to provide all painting materials used in class.
Materials will be discussed in depth at the first session.
Estimated costs of materials needed are between £30 and £50.
You will also require some photographs for use as reference material.
Please bring your watercolour painting kit to the first class.
