The student will be introduced to the biology of development through the study of genetics and developmental cognitive neuroscience. They will gain an understanding of the role of the child's environment through the study of the impact of family, communities and other social networks in the child's environment.

Part-Time Programme
This MSc will explore child development from diverse theoretical and applied perspectives. The interaction of biological and social factors will be explored in to context of atypical developmental paths such as those observed in dyslexia, autism, and other developmental disorders. In addition, students will be given a solid grounding in qualitative and quantitative research methods to enable them to critically asses existing research and carry out their own research.
The course is unique in asking how the biology of development and the social context of development combine during the childhood years.
Students on the MSc will be required to undertake a piece of empirical research or advance quantitative analyses under the supervision of experienced staff.
