In year 1 you'll study an introduction to business analytics where you'll learn to analyse data using mathematical techniques and information technology to improve businesses decision-making. You'll also become familiar with how information in IT systems can be standardised, linked and interact with modern-day business.

In year 2 you'll look at finance solutions for business. On this module, you'll have access to our dedicated Bloomberg Trading room completely designed to give you the experience of working in a fast-paced professional environment. You'll use our industry standard software packages to access real-time financial data, developing the technical skills that are widely used in the financial industry. The module also introduces topics in finance that include portfolio management, trading strategies and stock valuation. You'll finish this module having gained an additional qualification - the Bloomberg Market Concept (BMC) certificate.

Other modules in year two include Digital Project Management where you'll work on an individual project to gain the PRINCE2 foundation examination.

In year 3 there's a big focus on putting what you've learnt into practice ensuring you're prepared for the world of work. In the module Strategy, Management and Consultancy, you'll learn about the role of a consultant in modern-day business. You'll develop your management skills, knowledge and experience by undertaking a live project for an external client. This project will emphasise the importance of blending business, people and technology issues when analysing problem situations to support businesses to gain a competitive advantage. You'll work in groups for the consultancy project and present this to the external client.

About this course

This course has been developed in response to the industry-wide need for graduates who have significant digital technological skills, advanced business acumen and can tackle problem-solving with a rational analytical approach.
Employability education is embedded throughout the programme in the form of activities such as live client projects, industry guest speakers, seminars, business plans, online project management, collaboration and the development of personal skills.
All students can earn additional qualifications whilst studying, including PRINCE2 for Project Management and the Bloomberg Market Concepts certification.
At least half of your classes will take place in the computer laboratory, developing the practical skills essential to working in the digital industries, along with other sessions in our Bloomberg Trading Room.

You will have the opportunity to study a foreign language, free of charge, during your time at the University on a not-for-credit basis as part of the Kingston Language Scheme. Options currently include: Arabic, French, German, Italian, Japanese, Mandarin, Portuguese, Russian and Spanish.

GCSE: candidates are normally required to hold five GCSE subjects grades A*–C including Mathematics and English Language (or comparable numeric score under the newly reformed GCSE grading)
