Introduction:
This course is a progression from the Level 1 Introduction to Digital Imaging course. It teaches more advanced Photoshop techniques and aims to provide you with enough knowledge to edit your own images. The course leads to an Open College of the North West (OCNW) Level 2 Certificate.
Study Mode & Location:
This part-time course can be studied for 3 hours per week over 7 weeks or for 2 hours per week over 10 weeks.
It is available at the following community venues:
- Bamber Bridge Learning Centre.
- Buckingham House Learning Centre.
- Garstang High School Technology Centre Learning Centre.
- Harris Library Learning Centre.
- Preston North End (PNE) Learning Centre.
- Tanterton Learning Centre.
Course Content:
Examples of possible topics covered include:
- Further Development of Using Selection Tools.
- Further Development of Understanding Layers.
- Further Development of Understanding Image Resolution.
- Combining Images.
- Portrait Work.
- Layer Masks.
You will carry out exercises provided by your tutor for the first part of the course. In the final weeks you will complete an assignment set by your tutor, where you are encouraged to use your own imagination.
Assessment:
During the course, you will produce printouts of each of the exercises, and write short notes about how you created the final image (assistance is normally given by your tutor). Some questions will also need to be answered (again assistance may be given). All printouts and answered questions go together to make up a portfolio of your work, which is handed in as evidence of course completion. Once moderated, your portfolio will be available for collection.
Careers & Progression Opportunities:
We currently do not offer a Level 3 course, but are hoping to in the near future.
How To Apply
You will need to have an informal interview with a Adult Admissions Adviser.
Many courses have limited places so please enquire as soon as possible. Following interview, the earliest you may enrol is mid-June.
