The ICFM Diploma Programme has proven to be one of the most comprehensive advanced level learning formats available dedicated to strategically-focused principles and skills for effective management of car and light van fleets.

Successful completion leads to the award of the prestigious Diploma in Car Fleet Management externally endorsed qualification. Apart from being a valuable asset in selecting candidates for senior fleet management positions the Diploma also satisfies a key criterion to attaining Fellowship of the Institute.

Programme aim

To equip car fleet managers or senior client-focused managers in fleet support provision with strategically-focused skills, knowledge and principles necessary to review and/or re-write car fleet policy in a way that should attain acceptability at board management level.

Programme objectives

By the end of the programme participants should be able to:

  1. Identify and apply advanced level principles and skills for the effective management of car fleets at a strategic level in four principal competence areas.
  2. Share fleet management related problems and solutions with experienced tutors and associates with similar development needs and goals.
  3. Establish the areas for improvement and development of existing fleet strategy and tactics to meet current and future organisational needs and legislative requirements.
  4. Demonstrate practical application of strategy, tactics and learning through successful completion and review of comprehensive projects and a written dissertation.
  5. Develop associate relationships to facilitate the effective exchange of ideas and tactics via peer group networking.
Programme structure
  1. Four two-day tutor-led modules scheduled over a 15-month (approx.) timescale.
  2. Three role-based projects to be completed throughout the duration of the programme. These will follow attendance on the following modules:
  3. D/1 - Administration & Control, D/2 - Advanced Finance, D/3 - Acquisition & Disposal (Module content details below).
  4. Participants are required to present their projects three to four months after attendance on each of the above modules. A written dissertation is then produced and submitted following attendance on the final module.

Additional information

Payment options: As with all ICFM education and training, enrolment is linked to membership (full Member level minimum). Membership (MICFM) is £55.00 a year plus a one-off application fee of £20.00. All modules: £650.00 each (including two-day tutorial, one day project review and assessment). Fees are invoiced prior to the first and third modules.
