Overview
With a range of units written to inspire and support your journey into art, design, media and performance, this course introduces you to the skills needed to succeed. In art sessions you’ll be introduced to drawing techniques, photography, graphics, mixed media and 3D. In media, you’ll learn about how to use equipment to film and edit video products and in performing arts you will explore design skills for drama and dance shows. You’ll also learn about further training and employment in the relevant industries.

Entry Requirements
There are no qualification entry requirements for this course, but you must be interested in studying art and design technqies and skills. An interview is required.

Course Duration
One year, full time.

Skills and Benefits
This course gives you the opportunity to explore a variety of creative skills with a view to progressing to the Level 2 Diploma in Performing Arts (Acting), Level 2 Diploma in Art and Design or the Level 2 Diploma in Creative Media. You will explore art and design, media, performing arts and employability on this course.

Mandatory Units
Functional Skills are a mandatory part of the course and you will be required to study Maths and English. You will complete the following units looking at different areas in the creative arts and media sector: Introduction to the Creative Arts and Media sectors Explore 3D Design Crafts Explore Mixed Media Developing Multimedia Products Explore 3D Design Exploring Digital Photography Exploring Design Skills for the Performing Arts Producing a Product Career Progression Working in a Team Exploring Acting Skills Presenting Performing Arts Work

There are no optional units on this qualification.

Course Assessment
Although the course is mainly practical, you will also work on research projects based on companies and organisations within the Art, Media and Performing Arts Industries. Assessment is continuous throughout the course with all practical work being recorded for marking purposes.

Progression
Upon successful completion of the qualification you will be able to apply for the Level 2 Diploma in Performing Arts (Acting), Level 2 Diploma in Art and Design or the Level 2 Diploma in Creative Media. This will prepare you for study at Level 3.
