About this course
5 GCSEs at grade c or above along with relevant experience in drama. Mature students will be considered with relevant life and drama experience. All applicants will be required to prepare an audition piece.

Course Content: The course explores the practice, theories and purposes of theatre and drama in both contemporary and historical contexts. You will be given a range of opportunities to explore and develop practical skills, and understanding through improvisation, text and devised performances. Though this is a predominantly practical course, students are expected to regularly read plays and complete written assignments.
In the first year you will study areas of performing arts including Improvisation, TV/Film acting, developing voice for the actor and developing acting techniques.
The second year you will participate in the rehearsal and production planning of major performance work in front of an audience.
Special Features: On entry onto the course you will become a member of the â€-Platform Theatre company. You will regularly visit theatres to see productions and will participate in workshops led by visiting theatre companies, TV/Film directors and casting agents.
Course Format: You will learn through practical workshops and rehearsals and class room based theory sessions and you will be assessed through theatre performances, rehearsals and written evaluations.
Progression: The majority of students progress onto Higher Education to further their drama studies working towards either a HND or Degrees in Drama. There will be guidance throughout the course to make you aware of opportunities for further study and career opportunities within the industry.
