2. Course description This full Level 5 course is widely recognised as the best professional development qualification for teachers working in education and training. This is a two year course, with sessions delivered on non-consecutive Saturdays. The course covers planning, curriculum design, theories of learning, assessment, inclusive practices, delivery methods, meeting individual needs, and you will need to be observed teaching your specialist subject to your learners a minimum of 8 times over the two year period. 3. Entry requirements You must have identified a specialist subject you are interested in teaching, and should be able to demonstrate English and maths skills at a minimum of Level 2 (GCSE A* - C). You will require a teaching commitment to participate in this course, of a minimum of 70 delivery hours over the academic year. This can be paid or unpaid work. You will need to have access to the internet, as well as be able to use basic word processing and presentation software in order to successfully complete the course. There will be a pre-course assessment and interview. For details please call 01708 554016. 4. Equipment required There are no additional costs for this course, but you would be advised to invest in some reading materials. Many sources will be provided for you, but wider reading is an expectation. Please be aware you can apply to pay for this course through the 24+ Advanced Learning Loans, or by instalments. 5. Assessment method The course is assessed at Level 5, and this is through the production of written coursework, presentations (using ICT), as well as the delivery of assessed teaching sessions to the group. You will also be observed a total of 8 times in your teaching context over the two years, normally 4 observations per year.
