Students should have at least one of the following:
Current Isle of Wight College students must have successfully completed all of their previous course/s including Functional Skills and must have attendance of 88% or higher, evidence of recent academic study, good interpersonal skills, the ability to work with others, a commitment to, or an interest, in a career in the Business sector or Higher Education.
This is level 2 course designed for people seeking progression within the legal, administrative or business sector through education or into employment. For adult learners the BTEC Level 3 See progression below.
This course is a full time option and is suitable for students 16 years or above.
This qualification covers a wide range of areas related to the skills and knowledge required for working as a legal assistant. The Diploma allows the learner to commit more time to studying a wider variety of units to support their learning than is possible with the Level 2 Certificate. All learners will complete the mandatory units of The Legal Environment, Principles of Criminal Liability, Principles of Contract Liability and Principles of Negligence. Learners will also be required to complete four optional units (subject to confirmation).
The Isle of Wight College is fully committed to developing and improving the skills of young people. This includes ensuring that learners work towards improving their English and mathematics. These skills are essential competencies for progression within further education, higher education and employment. Therefore, all students are required to attend English & maths improvement sessions.
The course is delivered by specialist staff, who possess specialist qualifications. Teaching sessions incorporate a mixture of activities and on-line learning to ensure students develop skills and knowledge.
