Thames Gateway College Information:
This course runs at Thames Gateway College at CEME.
Duration :2 years, I day per week for employed students.
Who the Course is For:
The advanced apprenticeship is the completion of the Apprenticeship Framework. This course is aimed at people who have the ability and motivation to become tomorrows skilled diagnostic technicians. Those following the programme will receive advanced technical knowledge and practical tuition in diagnostics and fault finding. This ensures that the course satisfies both the students and employers needs, and meets the national standards set by the Automotive Skills Council.
Assessment:
Assessment is by examination in all key areas of study, on an individual basis. Practical assessment is carried out in the workplace, in an ongoing programme throughout the course.
Course Leads To:
Career development in the vehicle service and repair trade. Progression to specialist short courses, for vehicle diagnostic technicians.
Progression to supervisory management.
Entry Requirements:
Students will be expected to have completed the Apprenticeship Level 2 Programme or a Motor Vehicle Level 2 Techinical Certificate.

This is supported by additional units required to make up the full qualification award - Health and Safety, Positive working relationships, communication level 2, Application of number Level 2 and Information Technology Level 1.
These areas are then supplemented by a variety of optional units that can tailor the award to the evidence most likely to occur in the trainees working environment. The Advanced Apprenticeship framework consists of the following:-
