About this course

* 160 to 220 points, based upon a minimum of two A levels or equivalent. We welcome BTEC Diploma qualifications, CACHE Diploma or Access Programme passes.
* We welcome applications from students with ethnically diverse backgrounds, students returning to education and international students. We also support widening participation and encourage applicants with non-standard qualifications.

If English is a second language:
* IELTS Grade 6 or
* Cambridge CAE/CPE grade C or
* TOEFL 580 points (computer based test 235 or internet based 80)

BA (Hons) Disability Studies
Mode: full-time

The programme explores the nature of disability and inclusion, the history of society’s engagement with disability and the nature of disability from the perspective of disabled individuals.

Areas of study include:

  • Components that explore the background and delivery of learning to children special educational needs.
  • The development of disability studies.
  • An understanding of the lives of children and in particular disabled children during the last 3 centuries.
  • Analysis of the experiences acquired during work placements.
  • An understanding of the structures and processes that underpin provision in schools and the wider world of social and community care.
  • The relationship between the disabled community and other oppressed communities for example women and people from ethnic minorities.
