Course content
This is an exciting course discovering and developing drawing skills, set in the unique location of the Leeds Museum Discovery Centre. We have access to objects from the natural history collection and social history collections. Expert curators are on hand to guide us through the objects and give us individual histories of each artefact. We will be working through a range of drawing techniques designed to give you confidence and build up skills. You will be provided with a starter sketchbook and encouraged to draw in your own time, as well as lead class sessions.
What will I make?
You will make drawings, coloured drawings and paintings. Techniques will include measured drawing, negative space drawing, contour drawing, colour wheel and colour matching.
Teaching
Methods are informal and encouraging, with demonstrations on how to use materials. Sessions are usually taken up with students working on their own, developing their practical art skills.
