Doctor of Medicine (MD)

The MD is a 2 year full-time (4 years part-time) programme aimed at persons in clinical practice.

Applicants must:

• Hold a MBBS or BDS (Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery or Bachelor of Dental Surgery) degree or equivalent
• Be registered with the General Medical Council or General Dental Council
• Have at least three years of clinical or scientific postgraduate experience

• Normally be in appropriate clinical or scientific employment at the University or a collaborating partner Trust of the University for the duration of the Degree

 Non-native speakers of English must also satisfy minimum English language requirements.

Home/EU students
Full-Time: £4,052 p.a.  Part-Time: £2,026 p.a.

International students
Full-Time: £15,500 p.a.

Information for potential overseas applicants

If you are overseas, hold a relevant qualification, have the requisite experience, and fulfill the minimum English Language requirements, you should identify an area of medicine/science in which you wish to undertake research and contact one of our research staff as a potential supervisor. If you are able to find a supervisor willing to support your application, and a suitable host Trust can be found for the research, you must ensure that you have sufficient funding for the tuition fees, project cost fees and living expenses. Then, you can work with your identified Aston supervisor and a nominated clinician from the Trust to develop a research proposal. Once a suitable proposal has been agreed, you can then apply online

This is a research degree and is assessed by thesis and viva voce
