Duration:
One year for AS Level and a further year to complete A2 Level.
Do I need any additional qualifications/ skills?
During the course you will have the opportunity to go on a number of trips. In the past we have seen productions in London at the National Theatre; Almeida; Old Vic and we have had tours of Shakespeares Globe and the National. Students have also done workshops at the Globe; Almeida; and with Frantic Assembly. We also offer students the chance to see local productions at the Theatre Royal Brighton and Chichester.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment is based on performances, coursework and a written examination at the end of the A2 year.
What can I do afterwards?
This popular subject can prepare you for a specialist course at university or drama school. Studied in combination with other subjects, it acts as an excellent basis for further study in other curriculum areas. It combines especially well with English, Film Studies, Media, Art, Performing Arts, Dance, Law and Languages. Past students are currently studying at Central School of Speech and Drama, East 15, Guildhall, London Studio as well as a a range of Universities such as Cambridge, Royal Holloway, Canterbury and Leeds.
Are there any additional costs involved?
£30 at the start of the course for scripts, course materials, workshops and production costs. You will also need to allow around £40 per year for theatre visits.
