Learn to develop the process of writing and drawing comic book pages and learn how to plan, create and draw comic book pages effectively. You will plan a 4 page graphic story and execute one finished page on the course.

About this course

- Plan a 4 page comic book.
- Plan and execute sketches for the comic book.
- Create characters and draw them so they can be recognised within different panels.
- Understand how to break a story down into a sequence of images
- Write, draw and ink one full page of the planned comic book.

Please bring your own pens (fineliner pens medium to thick), drawing pencils and sketch books. Other materials will be provided.

It would be useful to bring a memory stick (or portable hard drive – please note PC formatted hard drives can be read by Apple mac computers, but not written to.) CDs/DVDs are available.

Course programme

A full course outline will be given out at the first session.
- Character design
- Designing a comic page
- Drawing and Inking
- Lettering and speech balloons.

You will be taught using practical illustrated demonstrations, followed by practical exercises. The course will require you to draw a lot. In some circumstances you may be asked to finish an exercise in your own time, ready for the next class.
