Course programme

Course Content:
Reminiscence, or nostalgia therapy involves the discussion of past activities, events and experiences with another person or group of people. Usually this would be with the aid of physical prompts such as photographs, household and other familiar items from the past, including music and old sound recordings, etc.

According to research, this is an activity that family care-givers are increasingly involved in and it rates as one of the most popular psychosocial interventions in dementia care and depression. There is also the added benefit that carers and other participants also regard it as a very enjoyable activity. Nostalgia is shown to be both a driver of empathy and social connectedness, and a potent internal antidote for loneliness and alienation.

Our new course harnesses this thinking and turns it into a fun and enjoyable course for you to enjoy with your loved one, who might have a condition such as Dementia, Parkinson’s or depression. The focus of the course is to increase health and wellbeing through a shared enjoyable creative acitivity.

The course will help you to build your confidence making art and help you to overcome any anxiety to start drawing. The course will support your drawing improvement and development through exercises using tone, line and observation and a range of drawing tools.

There are discounted rates available for those who meet certain criteria, including carers. See below for further details.
