Course suitability

This structured course is for students wishing to advance existing sewing skills who have reached Level 1 or above.

Entry qualifications

Students need to have completed a City & Guilds Level 1 course or equivalent.

This course is not suitable for beginners, if you are unsure of your suitability please contact the college to discuss your experience prior to enrolment.

Information about the course

A garment with relevant samples and sewing skils will be taught

Course content

Projects are subject to individual skills and may include a dress, shirt or blouse, skirt or trousers, jacket or outerwear.

Guidance will be given to undertake various aspects of garment construction eg. selection of fabrics, pattern selection, relevant samples etc.

On completion of the samples and garment to the required standard a College Certificate will be issued,

Additionality

Please bring your sewing kit - to include hand needles, pins, thread, tape measure, scissors etc.

Please also bring a notepad and pen.

Students will be required to purchase their own pattern and required fabrics

Assessment

There is no formal assessment and no exams but the course still requires a high standard of work.

Progression

Advice and guidance will be given during the course on further learning opportunities.

Payment options: UK/EU Fee : £150.00 Overseas Fee : £235.00 Part-time enrolments are subject to an additional annual registration fee of £10 payable once only per academic year (exemptions may apply).
