Level 3 Qualification (A levels, National Diploma, Access to Higher Education Certificate, NVQ3 or equivalent). Mature students with relevant experience are welcome to apply. All interviewed applicants need a CRB check and reference.

What will I be learning?
You will develop an awareness of contemporary early years practice. First year modules include: being a child today; children moving, growing, playing and learning; patterns of provision; working with colleagues; studying children in context; underpinning life long learning and research skills; and work based learning. In the second year you will be focusing on the modules: becoming a person; the powerful child; developing communication in the early years; independent study module; working with a range of professionals; early childhood - a comparative perspective.
How will I learn?
The innovative two year programme allows students to work, earn and learn using flexible modes of education including work based learning and e-learning. The foundation degree will develop relevant early years skills and underpin them with the theoretical knowledge required by early years practitioners in a rapidly evolving service. You will be assessed by a combination of essays, reports, and presentations.
What else might I want to know?
You will need to ensure that you have at least one full day's employment or voluntary work in an appropriate early years setting.
What can I do afterwards?
On successful completion of your Foundation Degree you will be able to progress on to BA (Hons) Childhood Studies at The University of Plymouth. You may also be able to progress on to a teaching qualification.
