Early Years Foundation Stage Practice - Level 3 (PSF0189)

What are the Course Details?
The Level 3 Certificate in Early Years Foundation Stage Practice is designed to familiarise learners with the requirements and principles of the early years foundation stage. It prepares you to support its effective implementation in the workplace.

Is the Course for Me?
This exciting new qualification is aimed at those people with a Level 3 childcare qualification and working face to face in a regulated childcare setting offering the early years foundation stage (birth to 5 years). Anyone currently with substantial work within the sector may also apply but should note this is not a substitute qualification for a supervisory role in the childcare profession.

This is an ideal course that can be used as evidence of continuing professional development and help you to prepare for the next level of course.

What are the Entry Requirements?
Ideally you should have a Level 3 qualification or substantial experience with planning and delivering in the early years curriculum framework. You will be expected to provide evidence of completing the awareness raising session and a reasonable level of literacy.

An informal interview is required.

You will be required to show evidence of holding an Enhanced Criminal Records Disclosure Certificate.

What Will I Learn?
Three units of study comprise:

Unit 1 - Context and principles for early years provision
Unit 2 - Promoting learning and development in the early years
Unit 3 - Promoting children's welfare in the early years

How Will I Learn?
You will attend underpinning knowledge sessions on a weekly basis and 3 Saturday workshops. You should have access to a computer for support through Moodle, the College virtual learning environment. A range of teaching and learning methods will be used to present the underpinning knowledge.

How Will I be Assessed?
You will be assigned an assessor to work with you during the course.
Each of the three units will be assessed using observation of work practice, professional discussion, walk and talk, and a reflective written task.

What Can I Progress To?
This can provide evidence for continuing professional development. It will be particularly useful for anyone wishing to progress to a Foundation Degree as it will show evidence of recent training.
