INTRODUCTION
The most important thing you need in order to study economics is an interest in current affairs and a willingness to read around the subject. Also, you need to be proactive and be committed to learn the new vocabulary that you will encounter. Studying economics complements accountancy, sociology, business studies, law, maths and statistics. In the past we have also had a very high degree of success with students that take economics alongside science subjects.

WHAT WILL I LEARN?
To gain an understanding of the key economic issues, such as: The meaning of demand & supply Unemployment and inflation International trade Economic growth and the standard of living Market behaviour and comparative economic systems There will be plenty of opportunity to communicate your ideas effectively through a series of written work, group work and presentations.

HOW WILL I STUDY?
Economics is a highly regarded subject and an academic frame of mind is essential. In order to be successful you will need to be able to collect, analyse and interpret data, therefore you will need to research material using the Internet and the learning resource centre. Economics students are provided with opportunities to attend conferences.
