This qualification is aimed at individuals who will be or are currently seeking to start a career Front of House. This qualification can be taken in the workplace as you train, meaning you gain hands on experience, and the dynamics of the course means that the Apprentice can gain professional skills in the front of house areas. The benefit of this course is that the Apprentice will have an all-round knowledge of the skills needed to work in a variety of front of house areas within the hospitality industry. It will cover the breadth of front office reception functions from everyday function such as checking in and out customers to organisational specific tasks – giving the apprentice a wider scope for future employment.

About this course

The Front of House Apprenticeship acts as an entry and progression route for new staff in the sector, and to up skill existing staff. It is a high quality, prestigious learning and development programme, valued by employers. Apprentices will develop skills, knowledge and their competence required to become a professional in Front of House roles.

Intermediate Apprentices will work in roles such as:
- Front of House Reception

There are no formal qualifications required to complete this course as all training is provided.

Qualifications are delivered in the workplace, so assessors will visit you on a monthly basis with your employer to undertake work towards this qualification.

Course programme

To achieve the full qualification learners must attain a minimum of 37 credits.

- Learners must achieve all 11 credits from the mandatory units in Group A
- A minimum of 3 credits from the optional units in Group A1
- The remaining 23 credits can be from the optional units in Group A1 or B1

Mandatory units (Group A):

- Unit 1 – Maintenance of a Safe, Hygienic and Secure Working Environment
- Unit 2 – Give Customers a Positive Impression of Yourself and your Organisation
- Unit 3 – Working Effectively as Part of a Hospitality Team
