The course will offer a diverse range of learning and experiential opportunities that will enable you to develop as an independent, creative and innovative thinker and foster the ability for you be a reflective learner and practitioner within the workplace. You will have the opportunity to develop the skills needed to enable you to critically examine all aspects of education and consider the theoretical, political and society frameworks it sits within.

Through this you will be able to develop your knowledge and understanding, problem solving, communication and interpersonal skills, which are essential attributes when working in the field of education. You will also explore comparative education philosophies in an international context and consider the potential impact of globalisation on practice approaches within England.

There will be opportunities to gain experience in a range of statutory and non-statutory education systems. These will include Outdoor Learning, Creative Arts Learning, Museum Education, Traveller Education, Virtual Learning Education, School Liaison and Early Years.

About this course

This is a course that provides an opportunity for you to study and experience the extensive and diverse discipline of education;

You will explore notions of knowledge and pedagogy; exploring and understanding how we learn throughout our lives. You will have the opportunity to undertake a critical evaluation of education including historical, political, international and social influences whilst examining theories of learning and factors that impact on this. You will develop the ability to critically analyse education systems and approaches and gain the knowledge and skills required in order to undertake an innovative educational project. The course will enable you to gain fieldwork experience in a diverse range of education settings; experiencing first-hand the interface between theory, research and practice.

There will be opportunities for you to pursue your own interests within the field of education as you undertake a variety of assessments, which will draw on your developing knowledge and understanding within different organisations and communities. You will further develop the independent skills needed for effective practice in the workplace as you explore and consider your future career options.

The typical requirement for entry for this course is 112 UCAS points.

A levels/AS levels- Two B grades (80 points) and one C grade (32 points) at A level.
