The Education Foundation Year team is dedicated to the ethos of widening participation to ensure that potential students who aspire to have a university education are given the opportunity to do so. Our new course offers an integrated Education Foundation Year in which you will develop the self-confidence, knowledge, skills and understanding needed for undergraduate study. This course is a gateway to Higher Education courses based within the Faculty of Education, the School of Childhood and Education Sciences and the School of Teacher Education and Development. The Foundation Year provides a supportive, motivational environment to assist you in your transition into your chosen BA (Hons) degree. Canterbury Christ Church University is committed to a widening participation agenda ensuring that potential students who aspire to have a university education are given the opportunity to do so. It is sometimes the case that students do not have the necessary entry requirements for admission to a degree course or the subject pre-requisites, for a range of reasons. The introduction of a Foundation Year in Education is a gateway to allow you an opportunity to demonstrate an interest in Education related subjects. To apply for the Foundation Year you do not need to have a significant prior knowledge of education related subjects but should be motivated to study the subject for a potential career in the wider children’s and/or education workforce. The Foundation Year will offer you a supportive, motivational environment in which to acquire and develop the self-confidence, knowledge, skills and understanding which, on successful completion, will ensure you are prepared for further studies at degree level and that your student experience is significantly enhanced.
