This five-day summer school is for school inspectors, policymakers and school leaders involved in educational evaluation.
You’ll learn about, debate and discuss educational accountability and evaluation, drawing on the latest research and examples from around the world. A questioning and critical stance will be encouraged.
You’ll be introduced to a range of evaluation theories and up-to-date research on school effectiveness and school improvement.
You’ll explore the role of school accountability and evaluation in system reform and school improvement, and discuss current evidence on the relationship between evaluation and (school) improvement.
By the end of the week you'll have a good understanding of
methodological aspects of evaluation and accountability (e.g. validity, reliability, value-added models to measure school effectiveness)
the context and purpose of evaluation and accountability and its relation to school improvement
The course will help you reflect on the future roles and directions for evaluation and accountability in your context, for example by exploring new models of educational accountability in decentralised education systems.
