About this course

The course is aimed primarily at teachers interested in developing innovative practice. Although you will be enrolled onto the standard MA Educational Innovation course, some students choose to pursue a specialism, such as Primary, Special Educational Needs or Leadership. Specialisms are dependent on availability of specialist modules and prior qualifications. Previously gained credit can often be used for accreditation of prior learning towards this course (please email the Department to enquire about your area of interest).

This course provides an excellent opportunity for practising teachers who wish to enhance their careers within a school specialism.

This programme has a number of optional modules to choose from to allow you to achieve the required credits to successfully complete the programme. Teaching:

The course will be delivered through a variety of teaching methods: lectures, seminars, discussions, presentations and case studies with activities related to individual specialisms. To help busy professionals manage their work loads, some of the modules are taught at weekends or online.You can commence this course from a variety of starting points depending on whether CATS have been accredited previously.

You can complete a final project/dissertation preceded by one of the core research method modules. You will choose the remaining three modules from a selection within the Centre for Education Studies.

For students who choose at least 90 CATS (which MUST include the 60 CATS dissertation) in a recognised specialism, the course offers the possibility to name the recognised specialism in brackets after the title of the degree, e.g. Educational Innovation (with a specialism in Drama).

Assessment:

Programmes within the Centre for Education Studies are assessed through a variety of methods depending on the module choices each student makes.
