EFL (Advanced)

Your Course
This course will suit those who have passed First Certificate in English or have an equivalent level of English.
The aim of this course is to extend and deepen the learner's already good knowledge of the language. Listening and speaking will be emphasised during the 10 week course. In relation to listening the learners will be exposed to a range of accents and topics which will improve their ability to understand in a wide variety of situations, including listening to the radio, participating in meetings etc.
Speaking practice during the course will also involve discussing many different themes which will increase fluency and give greater confidence in using the language. The steady introduction of new vocabulary during the course will also enable learners to express themselves with increased precision. Advanced grammar points will be dealt with and this will result in improved accuracy both orally and in writing. The latter, together with reading, will mostly be done as homework with feedback from the teacher afterwards.
PLEASE NOTE: There will be testing session at 5.50pm on the first week to check your level.
Learning Outcomes
By the end of 10 weeks you will have been given the opportunity to:
· Improve your understanding of the English used by speakers with different accents talking about a wide variety of topics
· Develop your ability to speak in English on a wide variety of topics with greater fluency and accuracy
· Increase your vocabulary in relation to a range of subjects
· Study advanced grammar points
· Practise writing and reading English

Brian Hart has 18 years experience as a teacher of English as a Foreign Language, specialising in high level classes and exam preparation. He is currently involved in syllabus development and materials writing.

Tuition fees: £90
Method of payment: Fees for short courses (10 weeks or less) to be paid in full at enrolment and for long courses (12 weeks or more) fees of 50% can be paid at enrolment plus 50% as a cheque. Course places cannot be reserved without receipt of both payments.

Please note that there are no classes during half term Monday 15th - Friday 19th February 2010 unless otherwise stated.
