You may be a school leaver with an interest in engineering or be progressing from BTEC 1st Diploma/GNVQ Intermediate level programme. This course will also interest those in work with a good craft qualification such as 236 part 2 or Electronic Servicing 224 or 7261.

Successful students can progress to higher education, following completeion of this course.

Mature students (Electricians or Electronic/Computer Servicing Engineers) with a good craft qualification can use this qualification to progress to HNC and HND courses by improving their mathematics and electrical/electronic principles.

Many employers in both electrical maintenance and installation and electronic support fields recognise this qualification as a prime requirement for their industries.


To study for this course, you need:

• a BTEC 1st Diploma with merit/distinction in Maths & Science OR GCSE Grade 5 (B) in Maths, • a Grade 4 (C) or above in Double Science and English.

Mature students may be able to gain accreditation for prior learning by arrangement with the Curriculum Manager.
