Initially students will be asked to complete a formal written test and take part in an interview process.
Candidates are also required to have achieved at least two `C- grade GCSE-s in Mathematics and a related Science. Any other qualifications will be considered on merit during the induction period.

Construction and the Built Environment - Electrical
Electrical Installation Level 2 Full-time (C&G 2330)(2010/2011)
Study Method:
Students will normally attend for a minimum of 2 days per week (subject to time table requirements)
The course will contain a variety of lessons of which at least 6 hrs will be practical hands on experience of constructing electrical installations in a number of different wiring systems. The syllabus is very broad and will introduce a range of electrical and electronic principles, background to the industry and other science principles. There is a high emphasis on safe methods of working.
Duration :1 Year Full-time
Who the Course is For:
For persons achieving entry rerquirements, who wish to become an electrician or a more mature student able to attend a full-time course and wish to commence a career in the electrical installation industry.
Assessment:
There are four units to be assessed by on-line multiple chioce exams, plus the completion of a Main Assignment (theory based report + practical tests - 10hours duration). Student attendance and course work will also be assessed and discussed during tutorial support.
Course Leads To:
City and Guilds 2330 Level 3 Electrical Installation.
Successful candidates will need to be employed by an Electrical Contractor, OR be working with one, in order to complete their Vocational training NVQ level3. JIB registration cannot achieved without this work experience.

Practical Installation Exercises
Electrical Regulations
Students will also build a portfolio of evidence.
NOTE protective boots MUST be worn in practical sessions.
