Emergency First Aid for the Appointed Person

Our courses are ideal for employers wishing to equip their staff with basic to advanced first aid and safety skills. We currently train rescue personnel, school teachers, publicans, youth leaders, retail workers and office workers with all courses being approved by a National Governing Body.

All training is delivered by experienced medics and trainers. Many of the qualifications are achieved through simple practical assessment without the need for examinations.

The aim of the course is to enable a candidate to be able to act as an appointed person to take charge of the first aid arrangements, including looking after the equipment and facilities and calling the Emergency Medical Services when required.

A maximum number of 16 candidates per course may participate.

The course syllabus covers the following as laid down by the Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981:

  • What to do in an emergency
  • Cardio-pulmonary resuscitation
  • First aid for the unconscious casualty
  • First aid for the wounded or bleeding
  • First aid equipment
  • Employers risk assessment of first aid needs Additional units

    As part of the First Aid at Work programmes candidates may undertake the following Additional Units:

  • Complete Spinal Management – Land Based Environment
  • Supplementary Oxygen
  • Manual Suction Units
  • Paediatric Resuscitation
