Course Level 2

Description
The Engineering diploma will give you a solid foundation in engineering principles and provide you with the thinking and learning skills needed for future employment and/or further study. The themes that underpin the diploma are mathematics, science, technology, problem solving, communication, creative and innovative thinking, and health and safety. The course is a mixture of practical and theoretical studies.

Course Length
Two years from 14 to16 in collaboration with your school.

What will I study?
Level 2 comprises of 8 units of study
The engineering world
Engineering design
Engineering application of computers
Producing engineering solutions
Construct electronic and electrical systems
Manufacturing engineering
Maintenance
Innovation, enterprise and technological advance

How will I learn?
Parts of the course will be taught at school, then usually one day per week at the Stephenson College.

How will I be assessed?
By a range of methods which include practical work, written assignments, assessments and externally set tests.

Where could it lead?
The Diploma prepares the candidate for a variety of different pathways including further courses within engineering or occupational areas, and apprenticeships. The qualification will open up a wide variety of progression opportunities. The Level 2 Diploma is equal to 7 GCSEs A* - C grade.
