Meet our Lecturers

Dr Seema Karami teaches civil & structural engineering, and works full-time as a civil engineer in Perth, Western Australia.

“I have been working in different projects in various continents and have learned a lot from many people and being diverse.

“In my previous job as Manager Infrastructure and Assets at the City of Perth, I improved technical documents, quality of the contracts and projects, improved the team culture and received amazing feedback from my colleagues and my team.

“It is an honour for me to work at EIT , teach students around the world and help them to achieve their objectives.”

Mechanical engineering lecturer Dr Lucas Skoufa says his favourite part of working in this field is how so many aspects have changed with new technologies over the last twenty years, yet the principles have stayed the same.

He advises engineering graduates to, “Make sure that they enjoy the challenge and always ask if they are not certain. Even with my experience I still ask others about something I may not fully know about; you are always learning in your career.

“Get the hands-on experience with mechanical equipment like pumps, valves, pressure vessels, and so on. The technicians you will work with appreciate engineers who have hands-on experience, it also makes you understand the theory you learnt at university so much better.”

Dr Rodney Jacobs is an electrical engineering lecturer at EIT, and is based in the middle regions of South Africa. He has been involved as an instructor for EIT and our sister company IDC Technologies since 2004.

His area of expertise includes all aspects of process control (PLC, SCADA, DCS, Loop tuning), as well as multiple facets of electrical engineering.

Jacobs was one of the original pioneers of e-learning, when EIT took it’s first steps into what would become a global phenomenon. Not only has he seen e-learning grow to what it is today, but he has seen the major e-learning packages transform, in order to keep up with the high-tech requirements and understands what it needed, to deliver effective presentations. He has a passion for knowledge transfer and a soft spot for “gadgets and technology”.

Industrial automation lecturer, Dr Hadi Harb, has a special interest in using artificial intelligence solve industrial problems, and has been working in this area over the past two decades. He currently lives in Barcelona, Spain and is the co-founder of Harb Farms, a dairy processing company in Baalbek, Lebanon, where he and his family manage a farm and produce dairy products.

Bruce Morrison is an online lecturer with EIT working to develop the next generations of biomedical engineering technicians within the 52705WA – Advanced Diploma of Biomedical Engineering.

He has over forty-five years’ experience in biomedical engineering as a technician, engineer and manager. He has extensive experience both in NSW hospitals’ biomedical engineering departments and across developing countries with long periods spent in Papua New Guinea and Timor-Leste, and several shorter periods in eight Pacific Island Countries.

Mr Morrison worked with NSW Health Infrastructure for five years in advising on the delivery of major and minor medical equipment to hospital redevelopment projects across NSW.

He now runs his own company, Morrison Newlin Consulting with his wife Dr Kerry Newlin, a registered nurse/nurse practitioner using his expertise in medical equipment procurement, maintenance systems and commissioning processes.

This is a must-attend event for engineering professionals looking to take the next step in their career. There will be an opportunity to ask your questions live during the session.
