This degree aims to help you develop professional skills in English across a wide range of business-related domains and will be of interest if you wish to work or have already worked in communication-oriented careers related to international business and management. It will prepare you for any career or field of postgraduate study requiring a mixture of business knowledge, high-level English language skills and cultural awareness, eg, public relations, marketing and advertising. The School’s quality stamp in English language provision is officially accredited by the British Council. We are also a provider of the Certificate in International Business English Training, accredited by Trinity College London and English UK professional bodies.

Course programme
In Semester 1, the compulsory module examines issues such as the nature of language and communication, the growth of English as a global language, the phenomenon of World Englishes, discourse and genre analysis of English used in various professional settings and the language of advertising and the mass media.
In Semester 2, the focus switches more towards the cultural aspects of communication and examines a range of issues relating to how different value systems affect what we say and do, and from this, how cross-cultural communication in corporate settings may be best achieved.
In addition to these compulsory modules, you will choose four more modules from a wide range of specialist pathways including:
