Course programme

In your first year you will develop your understanding of language and how it is used, critically analyse major literary genres and explore the development and current status of English language around the world. By your second year you will be ready to develop advanced skills in all these areas, looking at language from a psychological, social and practical point of view.

Throughout your second and third year you will also have more flexibility to tailor the course to your interests with optional modules including fiction, translation, and writing techniques. You will be able to explore your interests further through an independent project on a topic of your own choosing. You can also opt to take a work placement in your final year, in preparation for finding employment after graduation.
