An online self-study course for non-native medical professionals who wish to improve their communication skills in the field of medicine.
All four skills (reading, writing, speaking, listening) are practiced through a variety of practical scenarios and activities. In addition, there are grammar and vocabulary sections.
The course consists of five Units, at the end of each Unit, candidates are required to complete a Test (online).

Each learner will be allocated a tutor who will provide feedback and support during the course. Method of communication with the tutor is via the learning platform.

Access to the learning platform is available 24 hours a day /7 days a week.

The learning materials: Audios, videos, PDFs, Word doc, Online quizzes, Interactive activities, Speaking lesson (1 hour).

About this course

• To practice the English language through practical work-related scenarios
• To enhance communication skills, learn industry-specific vocabulary and expressions
• To increase language competence and promote confidence in doctors and nurses
• To enhance English language in order to understand the legal requirements and responsibilities of care in the UK
• To enhance and consolidate performance at work
• To develop a working knowledge of the English grammar

This language course is suitable for all medical professionals, e.g. doctors, nurses, midwives, dentists, consultants, surgeons, paramedics, pharmacists, carers etc.

Learners must:

1. have access to a PC and fast internet connection.
2. be IT literate.
3. be 18+ years of age.
4. commit to a learning/assessment schedule in order to complete the course successfully. Estimated study time per week is around 5 hours, including tests and tutorials. Note that this is only an estimation, the actual study time will depend on the individual.

There are five tutor-marked assessments in this course.
Award: Certificate of completion. ​

  • Giving and receiving feedback/instructions

This course is suitable for candidates with some knowledge of the English language (current A2 Users/QCF) who wish to develop their language skills: you can read/write simple instructions, (fully or partially) understand/participate in short conversations, you know the past, present and future tenses, have an English vocabulary of at least 100 words.

Please, note that this course is not suitable for absolute beginners (no knowledge of the English language). Suggestion 1:1 tuition.
