We will encourage you work towards nationally recognised qualifications that can support applications for UK citizenship.
Progression:
You can progress to a higher level ESOL class throughout the course. If you achieve evel 1 or Level 2 ESOL qualifications can progress to other courses within the College. If you achieve Entry Level or Level 1 ESOL qualifications you can progress to ESOL courses at a higher level.

There are no specific entry requirements. However, you will be invited to attend an informal interview to assess your suitability for the course.

What does the course involve?:
This course offers intensive graded classes in English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL). You develop your skills in speaking, listening, reading and writing English. There are optional taster sessions in vocational and academic areas, and the opportunity to study numeracy and ICT or to take advanced ESOL qualifications such as IELTS. Enrichment and tutorial activities include citizenship topics and visits to places of interest.

Four or five days per week
Are there any exams?:
You will take an initial short test in speaking, listening, reading and writing to ensure placement in a class at the correct level. Informal assessment takes place throughout the course. You will take the Cambridge Skills for Life ESOL exams in speaking and listening, reading and writing at levels appropriate to your language acquisition.
