Description of the Course
The qualification gives learners the opportunity to acquire knowledge and understanding of a range of skills giving the learner a vocational experience of the world of work. It is designed as an introduction to the workplace and will enable progression to other qualifications, which can confirm work-based competence. In addition it provides a platform for the delivery and assessment of key and basic skils.
Learners also have the opportunity to practice and develop the life skills needed to participate fully as members of the community and as citizens in the wider community.
Course content
Learners will study three core units, one optional unit and two units from the specialist pathways from the following units:
· Health & Safety
· Information Technology
· Introduction to Skills for Work
· Introduction to Computers
· Introduction to Word Processing
· Introduction to Handling Data
· Internet and Email
Units subject to variation.
Assessment
BTEC set assignments and practical activities.
Who is the course for?
The course is designed for students who have not attained sufficient GCSE grades to access a level 1 course. Students are taught in small groups with a comprehensive tutorial system and additional individual support where necessary.
