Who is the course for?
This course is for people who wish to work towards a qualification in a chosen vocational area, but would benefit from a pre-vocational preparation course to ease this transition.
What is the course about?
You will spend the majority of time developing child care skills and the remainder developing essential skills.
The course is in unit form and covers:
Pregnancy and the responsible parent
Caring for young children
Play and learning in the home
You will also study a range of Basic Skills as part of the course. These will enable you to develop skills to progress onto level 1 courses and are a compulsory part of the course.

No specialist equipment required.
How long & often do I attend?
This course is offered as a one year programme and requires attendance of several sessions per week.
How will I be assessed?
There are three units which will be internally assessed.
What opportunities will this lead to?
You may progress onto a Level 1 course in childcare or a vocationally related subject.
