This course will help you improve your English through your enjoyment of singing. The main focus of the course will be on the actual singing of a variety of English songs as a way of developing your fluency. However, through practicing the songs you will develop your vocabulary, your reading skills, understanding of general meaning, listening for details and grammar skills.

About this course

• the singing of a variety of English songs• develop your fluency through singing• increase vocabulary by looking at different types of songs• talk about and discuss a range of topics• identify the meaning of a range of expressions and idioms• read for details, understand general meaning and anticipating meaning• listen for details and for aspects of pronunciation including rhythm• approximate to English stress-timed rhythm• use a variety of grammar points.

There are no additional costs but you should bring a pen, paper and folder to class.

This will be a dynamic course with lots of active participation. The tutor will guide you but you will also work in pairs and groups. It will be a hands on practical course.

There are many courses you could do next or at the same time depending on your level You could do one of our general ESOL classes. Or a class without an exam such as Conversation and Pronunciation (E3), Matter of Opinion: Vocabulary in Practice (level 1 or 2), ESOL and Film, ESOL and stories, ESOL and Making Podcasts. Our ESOL Pronunciation Stage 1 would also be helpful. Your tutor will advise you on the best course.
