ESOL courses are for people whose first language is not English. We have courses at all levels from Entry (Beginners) to Level 2 (equivalent to GCSE). Courses are at different times'¦morning, afternoon, late afternoon, evening and Saturdays. Classes are at 4 main sites and at community venues. Morning, afternoon, Entry 1, 2 and 3 courses fill up very quickly so if you can attend late afternoon (3-6 or 4-6), evening or Saturday or at Level 1 or Level 2 there are more opportunities for classes. All courses have the opportunity to take external qualifications (e.g Cambridge, Trinity, City & Guilds or OCR) and Tutors will advise as appropriate.

How do I get on the course?
Come in to the Centre where you want to study to make an appointment to have your level of English assessed Monday to Thursday 10am-7pm, Friday 10am-1pm.
How much does the course cost?
ESOL courses are free if you are on income-based benefits, e.g. income support or housing benefit.
If you are not on benefit but are on a low income, you may also get help with fees. General information about the cost of ESOL courses is available in the following languages: Amharic, Arabic, Bengali, Chinese, English, Farsi, French, Greek, Gujurati, Hindi, Polish, Portuguese, Punjabi, Somali, Spanish, Tamil, Turkish, Urdu, and Vietnamese. When you enrol, you need to bring
· Evidence of your status in the UK â€" e.g. your passport or Home Office letter
· Evidence of your income if you are claiming concessions - your wage slips, benefit letter or National Asylum Support Service (NASS) letter.
If you need to pay fees, these depend on the length of course and can range from about £200 for a Saturday course to £1000 for a fulltime course. You will be advised of the exact fee after assessment has determined the appropriate course for you.
