THE ESTEEM BUILDER'S COURSE (1 DAY COURSE)

ABOUT THE COURSE
Building self-esteem can be achieved by using a practical, sequential and step-by-step process.
Everyone who touches the life of a child must be involved in the life enhancement process. This is a course designed to take a holistic view of the child’s life including aspects such as direct work, school, community, friends, and home. The materials used are based on outcomes of research into this area and will provide participants with practice based esteem building strategies.
Often as workers we are required to work on raising self-esteem. Where do you start? On what do you base your intervention and approach? How would your methods stand up when recording or presenting a report? These are all commonly voiced concerns for all who work in the childcare field which we address during this course.
If you have low self-esteem life becomes a dispiriting struggle; everything seems just beyond your reach! This course will refreshingly meet the needs of practitioners and managers. It will provide you with theory from which to base your practice and offer you materials and activities for you to use.

AIMS & OBJECTIVES
  • To identify what it is that makes the difference between high and low self-esteem.

  • To begin to develop the skills and confidence to change those self images into stronger more positive ones.

  • To build self-esteem within a sequential framework for all ages and in all areas of your work, particularly in the child’s life.

  • To lay a foundation of self-esteem that the people, particularly children can carry with them through all aspects of life.

  • To improve awareness of indicators of high and low self-esteem and improve the role of the esteem builder.

  • To enable adults to create a co-operative and enabling environment conducive to positive self-images and learning for all.

  • To capitalise on strengths and celebrate every success.

  • To address a clear rationale and philosophy explaining why we need to work on self-esteem.

  • To gain knowledge of the methods of assessing self-esteem and approaches to esteem building.

On completion of the course delegates are provided with course materials and are awarded a certificate. The training will commence at 9:30am and finish at 3:30pm. This course runs with a minimum of 12 and a maximum of 25 delegates.
