Course programme
Festivals are a major feature of the British summer; they are part of the vibrant and exciting Event Industry, which includes the staging of conferences, product launches, sporting events and charity fundraising. This degree offers students the chance to immerse themselves in practical aspects and academic study of the Events and Festivals Industry. Work based learning and placements are an integral feature of our Festivals and Events degree programme, as is developing understanding of how events are integral to business marketing strategy, how operational detail affects customer satisfaction of an event and why contingency planning is essential to successful festival execution.
Students will be introduced to the professional standards of the events and festivals industry, and be exposed to entrepreneurial concepts that will enable them to see opportunities for creating businesses or engage in a rewarding career.
This course is validated by Warwickshire College following the granting of Foundation Degree-Awarding Powers by Her Majesty's Most Honourable Privy Council.
COURSE AIMS:
· To provide an educational foundation for a range of careers in a event management
· To enable students to make an immediate contribution in the event management sector
· To provide flexibility, knowledge, skills and motivation as a basis for career development and as a basis for progression to graduate and postgraduate studies
· To develop a range of transferable skills and techniques, personal qualities and attitudes essential for successful performance in working life.

How will I be assessed?The degree programme is entirely assessed using a series of assignments throughout the two year programme. There are no formal examinations for successful completion of this course.
You will also be required to undertake the equivalent of 10 weeks of work placement across the two years.

What are the entry requirements?Minimum qualifications: Full level 3
Normally, applicants will be expected to have at least 160 UCAS points.
The College welcomes applications from students with relevant work experience who do not have formal academic qualifications and who have been working within the event management sector for at least two years. All applicants will be assessed and Accreditation of Prior (Experiential) Learning will be considered.

Successful completion of the foundation degree will lead to opportunities to complete a third year of study to achieve a BA Honours. Alternatively students should be equipped to gain their first position in a career within the Events and Festivals Industry. Those students with an aptitude for entrepreneurial business will have skill sets which will support them to develop their own event business ideas.
