You will need Five GCSEs Grade C or above including one art based subject, or an equivalent Level 2 qualification at Merit or an educational background that demonstrates the potential to succeed at Level 3.

At interview the application must be supported by examples of art, design and craft ability and should include drawings done from direct observation or examples of graphic orientated work –  for example – posters, leaflets, digitally based work.

Progression – This is an advanced level course.  Achievement at Distinction *(D*D*D*) attracts 420 UCAS points (equivalent to 3 A levels). This qualification will take you directly onto a BA Hons. Degree or Foundation Degree (subject to qualifying at the required levels).

You will be invited into college for an interview. The interview is a two way process and it will allow you to ask any questions that you may have regarding the course. You will also be required to bring into college a portfolio of design work that you feel relevant for the tutor to see. Design work could include GCSE/AS Level art /design/graphics/photography for example. A sketchbook would also be a good thing to bring along with you. The tutor will ask you questions about your choice.

Anyone wishing to understand an exciting visual language! Expect to engage with complex design problems and to arrive at solutions that promote, publicise, inform, persuade and entertain!

One of the most important requirements of this course is a lively enquiring mind, a growing interest in graphic design, illustration, photo-manipulation, typography, animation, web design and photography to name but a few!
