Summary
The aim of this unit is to provide the learner with the knowledge and skills to improve and maintain facial and skin conditions. The skills developed by the learner include how to adapt techniques according to the situation, how to complete a full facial treatment, the ability to plan and promote services and advise on aftercare products. The knowledge acquired by the learner will enable them to understand how skin types and conditions are recognised, the effect facial products have on the skin, carry out a full skin analysis and interpret the results, advise and discuss the benefits of regular treatments and achieve an understanding of the related anatomy and physiology.
About the Course
You will be taught the importance of hygiene and legislations relating to the industry and retailing of products. You will learn corrective techniques and the application of day, evening and special occasion make up according to face shape. You will also learn the relevant anatomy & physiology need for the course which will include structure and function of skin and bones of the head neck and shoulders.
For those not working in the industry an additional qualification (Certificate in Working in the Professional Beauty Industry) will be studied along side the qualification which will include Consultation & Health & Safety, to meet all the necessary legislation involved with the industry â€" payment will be necessary on the 1st lesson.
Learners undertaking this unit should understand how to behave professionally. The methods of study are open learning packages and practical salon workshops. You will be expected to carry out treatments on clients once competence is shown. Assessments using personal kit will be charged at £3.00 to cover department costs, all others will be charged according to department price list. You may, at times have to source your own clients.

Practical assessment through observation by a qualified assessor, Portfolio evidence and an online examination.
Are there any resources to obtain?
A plain white tunic (order forms are available from College if required), black trousers or skirt and flat, fully enclosed shoes. A kit is available at £13 â€" students should ascertain that the course will run before purchasing equipment.

£20.60 examination re-sit fee (if required)
£10 for consumables used on the course.
