Course programme

Our four-year integrated masters programme creates highly motivated and innovative fashion practitioners, with in-depth understanding of related business practice.

Our teaching team offers you expertise in research skills, concept development and the production of a womenswear or menswear garment collection, or production of related fashion products.

Course Structure

Year 1 introduces you to the technical skills of fashion design, including pattern cutting, draping and garment manufacture. This enables you to explore design and fashion's cultural and commercial contexts.

Year 2 offers design projects for appropriate fashion market sectors. You develop your communication and presentation skills for the workplace reflected in a professional portfolio.

In year 3 you undertake an industrial placement. Students enjoy opportunities in the far east, Europe, UK and the USA. On your return you carry out an in-depth personal investigation within your fashion specialism.

In year 4 you develop a fashion product, evolved, tested and generated from your individual research question posed at the beginning of the year.

Career and progression opportunities

Graduates are employed in prestigious fashion houses worldwide, for example, H&M, Max Mara, Chloe, Balenciaga and Burberry. Other alumni including Emma Cook and Ophelia Fancy have established their own companies and design labels. Other graduates work in the fashion industry as designers, buyers, merchandisers, trend predictors, stylists, retail managers, in journalism, in media, as academics researchers and as educators.
