This three year part-time FD Graphic And Media Digital Design is an exciting new programme developed for those passionate about graphic and digital media product development and keen to follow a career in the digital media and design based industries. It will enable response to the challenges of a dynamic and rapidly changing industry and emphasises industrial relevance through live practical projects and work based learning as the core of the programme.  Attendance will be on one evening a week with workshop support sessions in the late afternoon of the same day. There will be an expectation of self-study and research outside of the timetable sessions,

Students will be introduced to key graphic design ideas, technical knowledge and skills via design problems and projects through formal class sessions, tutorials, demonstrations, project research and peer critiques. Creativity and skills remain core elements. In particular, the programme encourages the integration of a variety of digital graphic design activities: commercial, experimental and multimedia.

The Foundation Degree in Digital Media Design will provide a preparation for those who are aiming for employment within the design industry or to establish themselves as freelance graphic designers within the digital media industries. It is a practical programme providing experience of working to live client briefs in a realistic industry setting whilst developing graduate level skills of analysis and communication.

Students who successfully complete the Foundation Degree will be able to progress onto complete an appropriate BA(Hons) courses at a variety of universities. However, the course recognises and encourages the students who may wish to gain employment or freelance work directly from the course.

The course will include a mix of delivered sessions, workshops and self-study. The course will be predominately practical based but will include appropriate academic demands expected of a level 5 university course.
