First Diploma in Public Services

Course Aims:
. To provide an education foundation for a range of careers in the public services.
. To develop students ability in a public service environment through effective use and combination of the knowledge and skills gained in different parts of the programme.
. To provide flexibility, knowledge, skills and motivation as a basis for future studies and career development.
.To promote an awareness of the fitness and skills necessary for public service careers.

THREE CORE UNITS
. The Public Services
. Public Service Skills
. Public Service Fitness

THREE OPTION UNITS
. Outdoor activities and the Public Services
. Map work
. Sport and Recreation

Progression:
Students leave to work in the Armed Forces or progress onto the National Certificate/Diploma in Public Services - subject to satisfactory course performance and satisfactory references

Awarding Body:
Edexcel

Exam:
All subjects are assessed by a series of practical assignments.

Qualification:
BTEC First Diploma in Public Service

Level:
2

Other Costs:
tudents will attend a wide range of Outdoor Activities, Visits and Residentials as part of the course and will be asked to pay a one off payment of 60 at the start of the course as a contribution towards the costs.

Duration:
One years study.
