Course Content
To gain the L2 National Certificate in Floristry, candidates must undertake assessments for all ten core units (units 221-230) plus one unit from the range of optional units (units 231 - 232). A total of eleven unit assignments plus the multiple choice test are required to achieve the qualification.

Unit 221 Identification and processing of cut materials and pot plants.
Unit 222 Introduction to art and design for florists
Unit 223 Introduction to plant processes and planted designs
Unit 224 Hand tied and presentation floral designs
Unit 225 Funeral and sympathy floral designs
Unit 226 Design and construction of floral arrangements
Unit 227 Simple floral wedding designs and accessories
Unit 228 Display of floristry goods
Unit 229 Introduction to working in the floristry industry
Unit 230 Process, cost and evaluate floral designs

The multiple choice test assesses knowledge and understanding of the core units. Assignments (one per unit) assess practical activities of all units. They also assess the underpinning knowledge of units that are not assessed in the multiple choice test. NPTC provides an Assignment Guide, which is available to candidates.
How will I be assessed?
Candidates are assessed on a selection of practical pieces of work and complete one assignment per unit.
A multiple choice on line exam is completed in the second year of study. Assessment components are graded Pass, Merit or Distinction.
A portfolio of work will be presented and externally monitored by a verifier from NPTC.
What can I do next?
Candidates can progress onto the Advanced National Certificate Level 3 programme or decide to complete an NCFE programme of study
